Kittens!
A litter of kittens was abandoned outside J’s work recently. Most of them were picked up by Animal Control or other people, but a couple have been running around, so we rescued them the other night.
This photo was taken when they were still in the “where is this weird place, it’s scary” hiding in the carrier phase. Yesterday and today they’ve really gotten comfortable with us, to the point that the girl (the browny/tortoiseshell one) will pretty much demand attention and petting the moment you show up.
No, we haven’t managed to name them yet. No hurry right now, whether or not they stay with us depends on how well they get along with Tessa. Still, I don’t even have any ideas for names this time.

Having spent the last few days at a professional development workshop for teachers, thoughts of fall and the return to school are inevitably on my mind. I never did get up all my favorite shots from fall walks in the local park, so here’s a couple more.

rose and thorns
From the semi-wild rose bush that attempts to take over the honeysuckle’s space on the fence in my parents’ yard every year. Nothing like pictures of the yard you were a kid in to make you miss your family.
